Sounds Coming Out of the Land #3: God Damn, the Pusherman
Previous shows now archived at Echobox Radio//next installment live this Sunday, July 2nd, 10:00 Land Time, 16:00 'Dam Time
Hello there,
I am back this week with another episode of Sounds Coming Out of the Land. Echobox is now archiving my shows at this link. They did archive my second broadcast with some issues that were not in the original file I sent them, so I posted the original file for people to download on my website. I’d like for you to hear it the way it was intended to be heard, if you decide to check it out.
I’m very proud of the third broadcast, which I just completed today. I really had no idea what I was doing with the first one and was really reliant on cis-men friends who know more about technology than I do, but my goal has been to become very self-sufficient in creating this, and I made this completely on my own outside of having a friend make my interview with Tony Maimone last week be in stereo. (My recorder records everything in mono for some annoying reason!) It broadcasts this Sunday, July 2nd, at 10:00 Land Time and 16:00 ‘Dam Time, but just in case they play the wrong broadcast again or some other nonsense, I’ll also include it here for you to enjoy on your own timeline. It’s called “God DAMN, the Pusherman” and features another tribute set to Doc Nemo, a tribute set to the Perlich Project on WCLV, and a set inspired by Cleveland DJ Billy Bass and CKLW following Tony’s description of what inspired him on the radio as a young lad growing up in Cleveland.
I’m very grateful to Tony for taking time out from his very busy life to speak with me; it really made the whole expensive and exhausting voyage to NYC worthwhile.
I have administratively added most of the people I have been in contact with for the book I’m writing on how Northeast Ohio modernized rock music, simply because many people have been interested in following these broadcasts, and it’s getting a bit unwieldy to remember to notify everyone separately. If you do not wish to receive this content, please feel free to ignore or unsubscribe.
The next episode will be about the political and cultural context of the region in the late ‘60s which made it such a unique, volatile, and generative place. That will air July 30th at the usual time. Double the trouble this month. :) Thanks for listening and for all the really positive feedback I’ve gotten on these shows.
Yours in music,
EMD
